Portal Master support new mangos?

Post by tippythop on Sat Jun 29, 2013 10:30 am

Hey, I use to use this in the past like 2 years ago. I have mangos currently I can tell the structure has changed in the DB quite a bit. Is there anyway to convert your project to the new structure? I have tried manually going in and changing the sql to suit the new structure but it seems that the gossip_menu and gossip_menu_option table has changed quite a bit as well there is no more cond_1, cond_1_val_1, etc. Just condition_id, also gossip_scripts not longer exists it is now in dbscripts_on_gossip.

Should  be possible, but I cant do it at the moment as I dont have a core to test on nor a DB and I am going to army.

Ok well I think I figured it out somewhat, I can now get the gameobject to work but it instantly teleports me where I need to go, I catch a small glimpse of the modified gossip window that I created which asks where I want to go but it closes instantly without me clicking where I want to go.

Ill see on my next vacation from army if I have time to fix it.
I am not allowed to have vacation for at least 2 weeks from army.
That doesnt mean I will get a vacation after 2 weeks though.

Meanwhile it would be smashing if you provided some guide reference to compiling a mangos core and possibly the source address. I dont have a mangos core atm.
The compiling guides have changed places from where they were and they didnt work properly last I checked (long time ago) and I had to follow an user made guide.
Also, I guess mangos isnt anymore? Not sure what happened since they scrapped their main page, havent followed their updates much.

But it should be possible and probably not that hard to fix the teleporter for the new system. Depends on how the new system works and what possibilites / capabilities it has.

Mangos is actually back and bigger than ever. They changed up their whole model, they now have all their cores nice and organized from mangoszero to mangosfour. I will get you some info in a moment on the compiling.

I was going to write you up a guide but it seems you have set it to where new users cant post url's for 7 days. I am done with the guide as well I wrote it from my own experience compiling cores for the last 4 years.

Make sure you have Visual Studio 2010 first of all I am assuming you have some form of visual studio, you can have that or 2011 but I used 2010 for my compile. Also you'll need:

Code:
tortisegit
https://code.google.com/p/tortoisegit/wiki/Download?tm=2

gitextensions

https://code.google.com/p/gitextensions/downloads/detail?name=GitExtensions244SetupComplete.msi&can=2&q=

git 1.8.3
https://code.google.com/p/msysgit/downloads/detail?name=Git-1.8.3-preview20130601.exe

Make sure when you install gitextensions there will be a screen about adding the executable to the PATH choose Run Git from the Windows Command Prompt.

After installing all those you'll want to right click on a folder of your choice where you want to checkout mangos, and choose Git Clone. Mangos 3.3.5 git repo can be found at:

Code:
https://github.com/mangostwo/server

You'll also need scripts which can be found at:

Code:
https://github.com/mangostwo/scripts

There is a way to git clone scripts into your already cloned mangos repo but its a bit tough to do so I would suggest you just make a folder called scripts somewhere else and clone into it.THEN you need to cut and paste the scripts folder to where you checked out mangos to, make sure you paste into into src/bindings . You'll know you're in the right directory if you see a folder named universal. There is a file in the bindings folder called CMakeLists.txt that you need to edit. Add this line:

add_subdirectory(scripts)
Below # add_subdirectory(universal)

After saving this file you should be pretty much ready to compile. Just go into the "win" folder in your mangos repo and open up either mangosdVC100.sln or mangosdVC110.sln

100 is for visual studio 10 and 110 is for 11

Edit:

I forgot to add the link to the database as well

https://github.com/mangostwo/database

Just git clone that where you want it and it should be pretty self explanatory

The cmake part doesnt take effect. (no scripts in compile, at least in VS)
I am also unable to fix the cmake error that appears when trying to cmake. (trying to add scripts)

CMake Error at src/bindings/universal/CMakeLists.txt:52 (target_link_libraries):
Target "mangosd" of type EXECUTABLE may not be linked into another target.
One may link only to STATIC or SHARED libraries, or to executables with the
ENABLE_EXPORTS property set.
CMake Error at src/bindings/universal/CMakeLists.txt:56 (target_link_libraries):
The "debug" argument must be followed by a library.

Guess I need to skip the scripts, probably works good without them anyways.

Oh yeah, I need to compile them afterwards .__. The cmake step was not needed I think.

No you need to edit the cmakelists in the bindings directory not universal.

Oh and I dont know if you know this or not but you dont need to use the cmake program for the setup process if thats what you were doing.

You definitely need the scripts portion because you also need to execute the sql's in the scripts folder into the database or the core will not start.

I changed that already, but there is the same error in the scripts folder then.
Even if I would edit the cmakelists.txt, the folder is not added to VS.

This is how it used to be and I think it still is (will test)
Compile mangos
Compile scripts (SD2)

Read my edit in above post.

Sadly the host is down at the moment so I do not have access to the files. (zymic)
I also noticed the wiki lacks a lot.

Got the core to compile as well as the scripts are included, there are some DB errors though even though the versions say that my DB is uptodate.

Already modified it to work on the new structure, but I have not yet converted the conditions (IE level requirement and faction requirements etc)

The new system is really not userfriendly. Neutral

I agree there they have changed the condition tables quite a bit. I greatly appreciate what you're doing, I shall wait until you figure the conditions out.

Have the changes you've already done been uploaded to the download page or are you wanting to complete the conditions before?
